My boyfriend and my son and I had a fairly normal life. We were happy. This world was foreign to the world we actually live in, in waking life. Very alien. One day, we watched a giant bee get consumed by a flower pod. The pod adjacent to the pod that consumed the bee, let out a blob of spores, right onto my boyfriend. In the coming days, he began to act increasingly confused and odd. He was complaining of soreness all over his body. I was beginning to have those symptoms as well, but less severely. I decided to contact a doctor. The doctor said that we had began to be overtaken by a human-controlling fungus. She said there are many different kinds on the planet, so in order to manufacture an antidote for us, she would need a sample of the original fungus that infected us. Over the coming days I searched again for the flower pod, but I could not find it. My boyfriend and I began to see smaller colonies of this fungus growing around our home and on our belongings. The doctor said this was typical, as the fungus wants every chance it gets to further consume us, so it builds colonies on our food, our belongings, and in our clothing. It had begun to consume our lives. Eventually, my boyfriend was all but himself. He could not eat or work, or speak. He was confined to the couch, and what attempts I made to speak with him were met with earie slow looks and moans. Not zombie-like, but very scary. As my symptoms worsened, I felt I had moments in reality, and moments outside of reality. Where my sense of self disintegrated into nothing but mindlessness. I did the best I could to keep our son and ourselves away from the colonies, and our breath, as much as possible. Finally, I decided that I wouldn't be able to find the original flower that infected us, so I took some samples of the colonies around our home and sent them to the doctor. Eventually she was able to create an antidote for us, and my boyfriend and myself became cured within a day. Our son never seemed to get infected, and thankfully was fine.
